Festival de Cannes anunció su selección de películas a pesar de que el festival fue suspendido este 2020
La pandemia global e histórica ha puesto en jaque a la industria cinematográfica alrededor de todo el mundo. Muchos films retrasaron sus estrenos varios meses y algunos incluso decidieron hacer un estreno vía plataformas de streaming u On Demand. «La Nueva Normalidad» hizo que grandes eventos fueran cancelados a lo largo y ancho del globo, entre ellos el prestigioso Festival de Cannes. No obstante, aunque el evento cinematográfico por excelencia haya sido suspendido, los organizadores decidieron seleccionar a 56 films que probablemente hubieran encontrado algún lugar en sus competencias.
El mes pasado el Festival de Cannes anunció su selección Oficial 2020, para apoyar a las películas seleccionadas en sus proyecciones ya sea de forma digital o en sus respectivos estrenos limitados en cines selectos. 56 fueron las obras afortunadas que tendrán la etiqueta oficial del festival de cine francés que probablemente les ayude en la promoción cuando vuelvan a abrir las salas.
Aquí pueden ver el anuncio realizado el pasado 3 de junio donde Pierre Lescure, el presidente del Festival, y Thierry Frémaux, Delgado General que suele habitualmente presentar la Semana de Cannes en nuestro país, dieron la lista de las películas seleccionadas.
Fremaux dice que este año fue un récord absoluto, ya que se tuvieron en consideración 2.067 películas, dejando bastante atrás a las 1.845 que fueron tenidas en consideración el año pasado. El anuncio incluye películas de varios directores que ya formaron parte de ediciones anteriores como por ejemplo Wes Anderson y François Ozon, pero también hay 15 obras de directores debutantes. Como es habitual, todos los films que posean la etiqueta del Festival serán invitados a ser presentados en otros Festivales como por ejemplo en: Locarno, Telluride, Toronto, San Sebastian, Mar Del Plata, New York, Tokyo, entre varios otros.
